Infectious Disease Connect hires Dr. Mike Rinaldi as new Vice President of Clinical Sales

PITTSBURGH, P.A., (September 7, 2021)

Dr. Rinaldi is a PharmD who spent seven years with Melinta Therapeutics and The Medicines Company from 2014 through 2021 and served as the infectious disease medical science liaison for the Eastern Great Lakes region. He was an infectious disease/antibiotic stewardship pharmacist and clinical pharmacy manager at Waterbury Hospital in Connecticut and was the clinical pharmacy specialist in surgery at Norwalk Hospital in Connecticut from 2007 through 2010; he served on the Infection Control and Pharmacy and Therapeutics committees at both hospitals.

He graduated from the University of Connecticut School of Pharmacy in 2005 with his PharmD, and then went on to complete an infectious diseases pharmacotherapy fellowship from 2005 through 2007 at the University of Connecticut Health Center.

Dr. Rinaldi brings a wealth of experience to the ID Connect team and will be a great fit to lead the Sales efforts and work cross-functionally with the Clinical, Operations, and Marketing teams.

“I’m very excited to join ID Connect at this point in time. There is a huge demand for Infectious Disease, Infection Prevention and Control, and Antimicrobial Stewardship specialists at hospitals across the U.S., and yet they don’t have physical access to these practitioners. ID Connect can help meet this demand by supplying high-quality, academic-level clinicians that can provide virtual consultations for these institutions. Furthermore, ID Connect rounds out its infectious disease services with their ILUM Inform antimicrobial usage app and ILUM Insight clinical decision software to help other practitioners make better empiric antimicrobial choices and optimize directed therapy, respectively, for patients in real-time.”

ID Connect has been growing in 2021 and is actively adding staff in Pittsburgh and beyond to service hospital clients around the U.S. via ID telemedicine, antimicrobial stewardship services, the ILUM Insight software, and the newly released ILUM Inform infectious diseases guidelines app.

“Mike brings to ID Connect a unique experience and skill set including deep infectious disease clinical experience as well as years of commercial sales experience. Combining these skills will assist ID Connect with its solutions-based approach and continuing to be a trusted partner to our customers,” said Dave Zynn, ID Connect’s President and CEO.
