Dr. Bariola serves as the Medical Director of the Centralized Health-system Antimicrobial Stewardship Efforts (CHASE) program at UPMC and Virtual Stewardship program at Infectious Disease Connect, Inc. He previously served as Fellowship Director of an Infectious Diseases Training Program and has mentored medical students, Internal Medicine residents, and Infectious Diseases fellows regarding careers in Infectious Diseases.
His interests include improved use of antimicrobials for hospitalized patients as well as the use of rapid diagnostics to improve the detection and timely management of infections. Dr. Bariola also has interests in the area of endemic fungal infections, particularly blastomycosis. With a clinical objective to improve antimicrobial use for hospitalized patients, he also has interests in endemic mycoses and other fungal infections.
