This September, Andrea Carlo Anglero, M.D., took the stage at the XLIV AMPRO (Asociación de Médicos Pediatras de la Región Oeste) Convention and Exposition in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, bringing her pediatric infectious disease expertise to two of the event’s key sessions.

Held September 5–7, 2026, the conference brought together pediatricians, subspecialists, and primary care physicians from across western Puerto Rico. Dr. Carlo Anglero delivered two well-attended sessions addressing pressing challenges in pediatric ID care.

In this session, Dr. Carlo Anglero walked attendees through real-world frameworks for antibiotic decision-making in the pediatric outpatient setting. The talk focused on practical, everyday strategies primary care pediatricians can use to weigh the risks and benefits of antibiotic therapy, helping reduce unnecessary prescribing while still ensuring children with true bacterial infections get timely, appropriate treatment. Antimicrobial stewardship remains one of the most consequential tools in combating rising resistance patterns, and this session gave clinicians actionable guidance they can bring back to their own practices.

Dr. Carlo Anglero also presented an update on the 2026 immunization schedule, covering what’s new for the year and the clinical challenges that come with it. The session also addressed vaccine hesitancy, equipping pediatricians and family physicians with communication strategies and evidence-based talking points to support conversations with hesitant families, a topic of growing importance across primary care.

Both sessions reflect ID Connect’s ongoing commitment to advancing pediatric infectious disease education and supporting frontline clinicians with the tools they need to deliver excellent patient care.
